To start (2)

God wants to be served. But what does that actually mean? Is it something that we can determine ourselves, like 'everybody in his own way'?

Let's start with what God appreciates, what makes Him 'joyful', so to speak. When we look for that in the bible you will be surprised! Very simply and simply put, it comes down to

GOD LOOKS FOR PEOPLE WHO HONOR AND PRAISE HIM FOR THE WORK OF JESUS CHRIST ON THE CROSS ON CALVARY!

There's a lot to say about that, but this is what it's all about. Actually it is no more, but also no less.

Nevertheless, we make a few brief comments about it in this post.

Simply come back to honor God
The first, of course, is that the work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary should tell you something. You must know Who He is to you and what He has done for you! You must have accepted Him as your Savior and Lord (read it Gospel). Then you are grateful to God and you can express that thanks to Him. That is also very normal. Luke 17 tells the story of the ten lepers who were healed. There was only one of ten who returned,

WHILE HE GLORIFIED GOD IN A LOUD VOICE. AND HE THROWED HIMSELF WITH THE FACE (to the ground) FOR HIS FEET AND THANK HIM.

For the Lord Jesus it was very disappointing that only one came back 'to give glory to God'. At the same time, the Lord assured that one of the right choice he had made when He said, "Your faith has made you whole."

Cain and Abel
The brothers both understood that it was good to give thanks to God and to make sacrifices. Cain started it and then Abel came. But God could not accept Cain's offering and Abel's. The reason was that Abel had understood that the relationship between sinful man and God required a guiltless, bloody sacrifice. It looks forward to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

The Father is looking for worshippers
In the conversation of the Lord Jesus with the Samaritan woman (John 4), it was at one point the question of where one should worship God. Then He says that from that moment on the place where you worship is no longer important, but what matters is that your worship is 'in spirit and in truth'. For says He,the Father seeks those who worship Him thus“.

God the Father is looking for people to worship Him. He is looking for people who can worship Him as Father because He is also and above all the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. When we are redeemed and reconciled through the work of Christ, we are children of God and call Him our Father

God's food
When we thank God the Father for the work of the Lord Jesus, His Son, these are "sacrifices of praise and thanksgiving. In the Old Testament, they are called "the food of your God" (e.g., Leviticus 3 and 21). God is a Spirit and does not need food. But He does call it that, because He Himself sees it as something important, something pleasing, but also as a kind of "primary necessity of life. Thus God desires the thanks and praise of His people!

Priests
The latter brings us to the fact that God has called both His earthly people Israel and also the Church of Jesus Christ to be priests and to perform the sacrificial service for Him. We are going to explore this topic of priesthood in greater depth because that is, at its deepest level, to serve God.
